When I was contacted to do a review for The Bouqs Company, an online florist that sources flowers directly from farms around the world, I was so excited. What woman doesn’t LOVE getting flowers?
I picked “Sweetness” because they looked just as they sounded. This is how they are advertised, “Send these awesome Volcano Pink Roses for a sweet spring gesture. Our flowers are shipped straight from our eco-friendly, sustainable farms to your recipient’s door.” Sounds good right?
I got my roses after a few days. The package was pretty attractive, it made me feel like I was getting something special but when I opened it the roses weren’t displayed that nicely, they were tightly wrapped together with an elastic around them and a lot of the petals looked brown. I’m not sure if it was because I ordered such a light-colored flower or because they’re eco-friendly so maybe they’re not covered in chemicals to keep them looking fresh?
I took the roses out of the package, trimmed the stems and put them in water. Then I removed all of the brown petals which were all on the outside of the roses (I removed about 2 petals per rose). Once I did that, the roses looked absolutely stunning! Even my teenage son noticed how pretty they were which is a miracle in itself. They lasted a little over a week before they started drooping and looking a little sad.
The overall verdict? They are gorgeous flowers with a little effort put in but they won’t make a great first impression. I would recommend sending them to someone who would appreciate the fact that they are from eco-friendly farms and who wouldn’t mind picking off the outer petals.
Disclosure: I received a bouquet of roses in exchange for this review.
