Tyler was asked to run lines for a game that started at 5:30 last night which I didn’t mind because it keeps him busy and he makes $10.
At 7:15 I decide to run over to the game because my son likes to announce when he needs to get picked up without taking into consideration the travel time. I’ve explained multiple times that I can’t just appear places but he can’t seem to grasp that concept.
As I’m pulling in, he texts me, “The game is over.”
I park and answer, “I’m here.”
I try calling. No answer.
I text, “Please hurry.” No answer.
I try calling again and I can hear the beep that let’s me know he’s on the other line but he doesn’t answer.
I text, “Why aren’t you answering me?” No answer.
The rage is beginning to build because I’m trapped in my car in my pajamas with no bra and no make up on so I don’t want to walk onto the field.
I text, “If you’re not out here in 2 minutes I’m leaving and you can find your own ride home.” No answer.
I text, “I’m pissed.” No answer.
I call. No answer.
I’m now sitting there debating on whether or not to leave him but I consider the fact that he’s probably found a friend and is hoping I’ll leave so he can stay and watch the second game with his buds. I wouldn’t mind this if he answered the phone and told me but now I’m so angry I really don’t care about his good time. All I want is his fanny in my car.
As I’m sitting there seething, a sick and twisted idea pops into my head.
I text, “ If you’re not out here in two minutes I am going to come out on that field and find you. I’m wearing my jammies and no make up.”
Within 30 seconds the phone rings and I see him jogging up the field toward my car.
I laugh evilly to myself and think, “Mom -1, Tyler – 0”
Next time, that last text will be my first text.
I need some of your mom confessions! What are some of the things your kids do that drive you crazy? Have you come up with any creative ideas to win your battles? Let me know because I could use all the advice I can get with having a teenager at home!
