I was recently provided the opportunity to review Jooners, an online signup sheet designed to streamline social event planning. I received a premium membership and courtesy swag but the opinions in this review are 100% mine.
If you know me at all you know I love organizing things. I’m a list maker, a spreadsheet lover, and I enjoy taking tasks and making them easy and organized. I’m also a big volunteer mom. I’ve pretty much always been team mom or class mom, I was our soccer club registrar and treasurer, I chaperone dances, do the book fairs, and pretty much find any way I can to be involved. It’s not to be a “good” mom, it’s because I love it. I love the action and the kids and getting to know other parents. Some of my best mommy friends are women I’ve met volunteering. I also think it’s good to make myself visable to teachers so they know my son’s mom is watching!
Anyway, I just joined a book club with some other mom friends and decided Jooners would be the perfect way to organize our first meeting. I wanted to create an online signup sheet that would give all information needed as well as enable people to sign up to bring a snack and/or drink to the meeting.
One thing I love about Jooners is the templates they already have available that you can just download, change a little of the info, and use yourself. I went through a couple of the templates to get ideas but ultimately decided to create my own.
I did NOT read the instructions or watch the video before attempting to create my signup sheet. I just wanted to create a simple appetizer signup sheet for my next book club meeting. I started to get a little (A LOT) frustrated because I chose to “Plan An Event” instead of “Collect Information.” Planning an event gives you the option to pick what you need for the event as far as food and jobs and then have people sign up for it. That would be so useful for planning the next school dance but not what I was needing now. I could not for the life of me figure out how to get rid of all the additional information I didn’t need. Finally, I hit the “Need Help?” link which immediately told me I should be “Collecting Information” instead of “Planning An Event.”
Once I got myself into the correct area, it was a breeze to create the online signup sheet I wanted. I loved the whole process. I feel like Jooners really thought of everything. I was so amazed with all of the little details they covered that I had to go through creating a signup sheet a second time just to remember everything I wanted to share with you.
This is how I created my online signup sheet:
Step 1: Choose whether you are planning an event or collecting information:
Step 2: Fill out basic information and add a picture (love that you can add the picture):
Step 3: Customize your categories (you can have up to four columns):
Step 4: Send an email to everyone who is interested in signing up:
Step 5 (optional): Share it to facebook, twitter, or use the link to embed in a blog or website:
Okay so this is where it gets even better…you are now done with your sign up sheet and Jooners take care of the rest of the work for you AND the people signing up.
At this point you have sent the online signup sheet to everyone interested, maybe posted on facebook or tweeted about it. So now people can just sign up with their email and note what they will bring to the party. They can easily see what others are bringing so there’s not a lot of duplicate snacks plus if they want to bring a guest they can just send her the link as well. Once they sign up they get a confirmation email so they have a record of what they signed up for AND I am also notified of every sign up (you can opt out of that if you choose). Now your guests have the option to add the event to their Google calendar AND I also scheduled a reminder to go out the day before the event reminding everyone of all of the details. So not only am I organized but all of my guests are too.
So yeah, I just planned an entire party in just a few minutes. I think I’ll use the other hours I normally would’ve spent on that with my son or maybe (gasp) doing something for me!
DON’T WORRY! I’m not going to keep this little organizing timesaver to myself! You know I love sharing with you so I will be hosting a giveaway so we can all be organized together! Jooners has generously provided two premium memberships valued at $49.95 each to giveaway to two separate winners!
