When starting a new blog, the first thing you’ll need is a host. I personally love Bluehost. I have all of my blogs hosted with them and have been using them for years. They have phenomenal customer service. When your entire income is from your blog, that quality is imperative.

Step 3: Click the green “Start” button

How To Set Up A Blog Part 3: Setting Up Your Theme
Now it’s time to pick out your theme which is the most fun part! Head on over to Studio Press to pick out your theme. You’ll need to purchase your theme along with the Genesis theme. The Genesis theme is the parent theme and all of the other themes you have to choose from are the child themes which run on Genesis. The first time you purchase you’ll need to buy the Genesis theme along with the child theme you choose. If you want to change themes you’ll only have to purchase the child theme as they all run on Genesis. I started with the Prose theme and then moved on to the Associate theme. Once you’ve purchased and saved the themes to your desktop, you can follow the steps below.
Step 1: Log into your WordPress account
Step 2: In your WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance>Themes in your right hand column. Click the upload link. When you click “Choose File” find the Genesis zip file you saved to your desktop and click on it. Once the screen looks like the one below, click “Install”.
Step 3: You will get the message that the theme was installed successfully. Click “Activate”.
Step 4: You will be redirected back to the Themes page. Click “Add New” and repeat the previous 3 steps to upload the child theme.
Congratulations! You have successfully set up a new blog!
