I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to review 52 Weeks of Family Spanish by Eileen Mc Aree. I’ve always tried to expose my son to other cultures and languages but as he’s gotten older, sports and school studies have taken over our lives so it’s gotten harder and harder.
This book is the perfect solution. It is a self-described as, “Bite Sized Weekly Less Designed to Get You and Your Family Speaking Spanish Today!” You just work on a few words per week so you have the time to actually digest and make the words a part of your vocabulary. It’s something that any family can work into their schedule.
In addition to learning new words, notes about proper grammar, pronunciation, and usage are included. This is particularly helpful so you know exactly when and how to properly apply your new vocabulary words.
Your family gets a cultural note each week which is may favorite part. It’s so interesting to learn how people from other cultures are different from you. Some of the cultural notes included information about food so it would be a great opportunity to make those dishes with your family.
Lastly, there are ideas on how to incorporate what you’ve learned into your every day life. These are ingenious tips that make learning Spanish fun.
I have loved doing this with my son (even though he loves to show off how his pronunciation is better than mine) and I highly recommend this book to other parents.
NOTE: French, Spanish, and German are also options.
