Basketball season is in full swing and it’s so exciting! Tyler is a freshman in high school, the same high school I went to. He’s now playing basketball in the same gym where I used to be a cheerleader. It seems like just yesterday I was watching my friends play and now my boy is on the same team. Back then it felt like I was so grown up and I can’t believe my baby is the same age and probably feels the same way! Unbelievable!
We knew this year was going to be a challenging one since there was no JV team last year and only two returning players this year. There are fifteen boys on the team and NINE are freshman. Yes, you read that right NINE freshman and only TWO returning players. On the upside, these freshman love basketball and have been playing together for years, on school teams, travel teams, and AAU. Not to mention, even though they’re getting beat in every game, they’re getting the opportunity to play Varsity games. Not many freshman boys get the chance to get the amount of Varsity playing time the boys are getting. They’re playing against boys who are bigger, stronger, and more experienced than them but it’s making them better. I’ve noticed a huge difference in just the last few games so by the time these guys are juniors and seniors, they will be a strong team.
Do your kids play sports? What sports do they play? Which sport is their passion?
