It shouldn’t be so hard to take care of ourselves right? But as a mom, the day-to-day chores and responsibilities can be overwhelming and trying to find extra time (what is that anyway) for ourselves can seem almost impossible. Here are a few easy ways that moms can be a little selfish:
Schedule time with friends in advance – When you make plans with multiple friends it’s harder to back out. Buy tickets to something you enjoy such as a concert or a wine tasting.
Take a class – Take up something you’ve been interested in but never had a chance to try or rekindle an old hobby. There’s plenty of zumba, golf, or painting classes out there to try.
Curl up with a book – I get all of my books from the library or BookBub for free. BookBub sends an email every day with free or discounted electronic books and I stock up on the free ones every day. Then when I have time, I can just pull up one of the free books I have stored up on my iPad.
Get up 15 minutes early – This is my time of peace. I’ll either have a quiet cup of coffee or mediate alone. It really gives me a great start to the day.
Exercise – Just taking a short walk alone or going to the gym can really rejuvenate even the most stressed out mom. I know how much of a challenge it can be to do this when you’re tired but it’s so worth it!
What do you do to make time for yourself? And if you don’t I challenge you to start RIGHT NOW and comment below with what you’re going to do.
Disclosure: BookBub is free to sign up but I receive a small payment for everyone that enrolls via the links in this post. The payment doesn’t influence my opinion. I love BookBub and use it almost every day.
